Our keto journey began in August He was overweight and started to follow a ketogenic diet. The weight just fell off of him and he was no longer Type 2 Diabetic within a few short months. After a visit with another friend of ours we found out that her husband, an ultra marathon runner, also followed a ketogenic lifestyle…so my husband started reading.

I had struggled with weight and eating healthy since High School, eventually losing 60 lbs with a proactive LCHF approach and a ton of working out. I turned to Keto to prepare for a kidney transplant. My Dad is a type 1 diabetic, in he received a kidney and a pancreas from an anonymous donor whose life had been cut short in a car wreck.

My Dad followed the counsel of his field leading Doctors. He was right back to the horrendous high carbohydrate low-fat diet all the Doctors swore was healthy, and thus he was right back to ravaging his own body. The pancreas failed in , and he went back to on Insulin. I knew, somehow, that my kidney would save him. I began preparing for the surgery and I decided that because this was something I would only be able to do once in my life I would do everything in my power to do it well.

I poured over pubmed for hours and eventually I began to find a common thread. The Ketogenic diet was associated with all the goals I had. For 6 months I tested my blood sugar, and my urine ketones multiple times each day, I used a Ketogenic — Intermittent Fasting protocol with a 3 hour weekly carb-up. My partner Sarah, thought I was insane, she would shake her head at the constant blood testing and strange consumption of massive amounts of fat coconut oil by the spoonful.

I know this works. I did a 10 week keto diet and lost weight. However, I did not stick with keto like I should have. I need to truly make it a lifestyle. This book looks amazing. Eating Keto had helped my pcos so much!

The key to my real weight loss has been to cut out dairy and minimize protein to no more than 25 grams per meal.
